Santa Fe Art Trail , Canyon Rd, Loretto Chaple

one of the sculptures at Canyon Rd

We tracked down Marianne Hornbuckle the artist of our painting we had to go a little out of the way but good to find out the history of the piece , it is a print only and probably not worth much more than the framing, but we like it.

We checked out a small amount the galleries in Canyon Rd, Santa Fe, what a lot of very clever people there are , fantastic art and sculptures, but in the same token a lot of really crap works of so called art as well, makes you wonder what some people are thinking.

Had lunch at a really nice place called The Compound, we stopped off a one gallery “Waxman’s”, and were caught on video saying happy birthday to the lady Phyllis who owns the gallery who happened to be turning 80, we did a bit of a silly dance and said that we would deliver our message in person at the restaurant where she was celebrating later that night. We went to the viewing of an art auction with all you could eat nibbles and drink, which was pretty close to where Phyllis was having her party, we met up with the party which was at a nice place called The Cantina, they have live vaudeville singing, we had a great time.

To look at all the galleries in the area would take you weeks, saw some brilliant work by a young Russian artist only problem nothing was under $50,000 and one piece was one million!!!

Ang you will like these bird seats ( a little cold to sit on in winter and hot in summer, but cute

One of the rock fountains as you can see it must be a little cold.:)

Stainless steel sculpture

We went to a little church Loretto Chapel , the nuns didn’t know how they could access the upper choir loft, a mysterious carpenter turned up out of the blue and built a spiral staircase , without nails and disappeared once it was completed, pretty amazing, as it still baffles architects how it was even possible. http://www.theoutlaws.com/unexplained2.htm  or http://www.funtripslive.com/santa_fe/miracle_staircase/staircase.htm

the amazing spiral staircase which has engineers scratching their heads, the railing was a much later addition
